The jury decided there were not kidding failings by South Yorkshire police in the arranging and administration of the match and reaction to the deadly squash, and that no conduct by Liverpool supporters added to the calamity.
Deprived families and their attorneys condemned South Yorkshire police for having made cases of rowdiness against supporters amid the investigations, in spite of the 2012 expression of remorse by the then boss constable, David Crompton. After the verdicts, Crompton was expelled from his post by the South Yorkshire police and wrongdoing magistrate, Alan Billings. Billings himself was reprimanded by the families for having bolstered Crompton's position all through the investigations.
Another acting boss constable, Dawn Copley, ventured down the next day since she is under scrutiny into assertions made against her while she was at Greater Manchester police. Billings named an interim boss constable, Dave Jones, from North Yorkshire police, a week ago.
